Skipping into Chapter 12...
Owing to the onerous amount of committee work and related disasters, Jeff and I have decided for me to skip to writing the section about vectors and leave the rest of the book unwritten until summer. This has been a very frustrating and difficult decision for me, but in the end, it's the only way to survive the semester. I plan to flesh out the Trig book by July 1 at which point Jeff and I will revise the entire College Algebra and Trigonometry Text. Our plan is to finish an update by August 1st.
Help! You College Algebra is perfect for Algebra 2 of course but I'm confused about what Precalculus is meant to teach. I bought a "Precalculus" book and it had the same topics as your College Algebra except for some extra trig!??!?
ReplyDeleteIs the purpose of Precalculus to review previous math all over again and learn trig? If so then it would appear I could use your College Algebra for both Algebra 2 and Precalculus right? (For all but the new trig stuff until that comes out!?!?!?)
Chris "Confused About Precalculus" S.
Hi, Chris!
ReplyDelete"Precalculus" refers to "the stuff you need for Calculus." Depending on the school, "Algebra 2 + Trig = Precalculus." Oftentimes, however, a stand alone "Precalculus" course is too condensed to cover the material at the pace and depth needed to fully understand the concepts. That being said, our book can be used as a stand alone College Algebra (Algebra 2) book as well as a Precalc Book (once we get the Trig done!) Hope that helps,
Carl
